BrownfieldAgNews reports:

Microsoft has entered into a 12-year agreement with a carbon market company.

Ashley Bruner with Agoro Carbon says the software company is becoming a leader in carbon credit purchases.

“(Microsoft) is really setting a tone of trust in this market, longevity in this market. And we’ve definitely seen on the buyer side an uptick and an interest steadily growing from other corporations interested in buying agriculture carbon credits, which is great news for farmers and ranchers.”

She tells Brownfield the agreement with Microsoft is groundbreaking because of its duration and scale.

“Having a big player like this sign this very large deal in soil carbon removals sets the tone for growth with trust that you’re working with a company that’s here for the long haul.”

Bruner says credits are generated through regenerative practices adopted by farmers and ranchers nationwide with agronomic and financial support provided by Agoro Carbon.
