BrownfieldAgNews reports:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released more details on the livestock portion of a disaster relief program for farmers and ranchers who had losses from natural disasters last year.

The 2022 Emergency Livestock Relief Program will be provided to producers who lost grazing acres in drought or wildfires. The Farm Service Agency will use existing information from the producers who signed up for the Livestock Forage Disaster Program to calculate the payments. USDA says payments will be automatic and not require an application.

ELRP payments for 2022 losses are forecast at more than $465 million. USDA has not yet rolled out the crop portion of disaster relief for 2022, called the Emergency Relief Program.
