BrownfieldAgNews reports:

The president of the National Corn Growers Association says finalizing year-round access to E15 is another way to boost domestic demand for corn.

Illinois farmer Kenneth Hartman Jr. tells Brownfield, “For every 1% that goes into ethanol, higher than the E10, it’s about 400 to 500 million bushels of corn, that would be ground. It’s not going to happen right away, but if you gain a percent or two every couple of years up to E15, that would be huge for the corn market.”

He says there are two bills supporting E15 that have been introduced in both the US House and Senate with bi-partisan support.

“We’re looking forward to the President hopefully helping support it,” he says. “We think that’s very important. Back in 2019, he supported it and so we’re hoping that he can work with the congressmen and senators to push to get E15 passed.”

The EPA has already issued a waiver permitting the sale of E15 in eight Midwestern states including Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin starting on April 28th.

A bi-partisan group of Senators led by Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota and Dick Durbin of Illinois have asked President Trump to issue a nationwide waiver for the summer 2025 driving season.
