The U.S. corn and soybean harvests made a solid advance last week. That followed another week of generally dry weather in much of the region.

The USDA says 47% of U.S. corn was harvested as of Sunday, compared to 39% on average, with 94% of the crop mature, and 64% rated good to excellent, unchanged on the week.

67% of soybeans are harvested, compared to the five-year average of 51%, with 95% of the crop dropping leaves.

64% of U.S. winter wheat is planted and 35% has emerged, both slower than normal.

34% of cotton is harvested, compared to 30% most years in mid-October, while 88% of bolls are opening, with 34% of the crop in good to excellent shape, up 5% from last week.

91% of rice is harvested, compared to the usual pace of 86%.

53% of sorghum is harvested, compared to the typical rate of 50%, with 89% mature and 34% of the crop called good to excellent, down 1%.

22% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are good to excellent, 3% less than last week.
