Ames, IA – Agriculture and food employers remain focused on the ongoing need for talent. Employee retention, identified as the top employer concern in the recent AgCareers Agriculture & Food HR Review, highlights the significance employers place on retaining their workforce. In addition, compensating employees well and competitively is the second most common concern for human resource professionals and leaders. Retention and compensation are a priority due to recruiting difficulties and competition for talent. Human capital is a crucial component and one of the most challenging matters employers face.
“Rising wage rates continue to be the most widely reported compensation concern,” said Mary Barefoot, Manager of Research & Insights, AgCareers. “Agricultural employers are also concerned about relating compensation to performance, pay equity, finding relevant salary benchmarking data, and quickly adapting to changing market pay rates,” added Barefoot.

One more Compensation Summit is scheduled for October 15th in Ames, Iowa.
