Early U.S. corn planting is a little bit slower than the past several years.
The USDA says that as of Sunday, 4% of U.S. corn is planted, compared to the five-year average of 5%, with wet conditions delaying activity in some areas.
2% of soybeans are planted, matching the normal rate.
47% of U.S. winter wheat is rated good to excellent, down 1% on the week and 8% on the year, with 8% headed, in-line with the average.
7% of spring wheat is planted, which is also the typical pace this time of year.
5% of cotton is planted, compared to 8% on average.
32% of the rice crop is planted, faster than in most recent years.
15% of sorghum is planted, equal to usual total in mid-April.
