Brownfield’s Mark Dorenkamp (l) interviews Brian Jennings |
The biofuels industry is preparing for new leadership at EPA.
American Coalition for Ethanol CEO Brian Jennings says the nomination of former New York Congressman Lee Zeldin raises some concerns.
“Look, as a congressman from Long Island Lee Zeldin had a really bad record on ethanol. He cosponsored bills that would repeal the Renewable Fuel Standard and prohibit E15. As administrator of EPA, he’s in charge of the Renewable Fuel Standard and E15.”
He tells Brownfield the confirmation process will be critical.
“It’s incumbent upon Republican senators to put Mr. Zeldin on the spot, to ask him the tough questions about the Renewable Fuel Standard and E15. And I have every assurance that they will do that, and we’ll see how things end up.”
Jennings says if confirmed as EPA administrator, Zeldin would represent the entire country and needs to remember rural America helped get Donald Trump elected.
